An African albino who escaped from the wizards of his country finds work as a model in Australia

A 19-year-old albino from Sierra Leone makes his model debut at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Australia today.

Weah Bangura, a 19-year-old who has albinism and managed to escape witchcraft in his homeland, Sierra Leone, debuted this week at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Australia, according to the Australian edition of The Daily Telegraph.

When he was little, Bangura was forced to avoid rays of sun and … to witches, who, he says, wanted to use their hair, their bones and their blood to create spells.

“They believe that albinos have special strength for medicine and use all parts of the body, crushing our bones and drinking our blood,” explains the young man.

The mother managed to take the child to Cameroon and, for no one to notice her albinism, she wrapped her head in a blanket, reports the Daily Mail. In 2003, the family moved to Australia.
